Hair WHAT?!

So, Alex's hair had grown out and I attempted to give him a super duper cute bowl cut that I'd seen on some other kids. But, his hair wasn't nearly as fine and straight as theirs so it didn't work out. After some deliberation, we decided on a TRUE MOHAWK! Yeah, that's right!

So in this pic, please mind the mess. Today was laundry day, and add that to the usual chaos, plus an awesome haircut and well, a mess was allowed today!

Also, please note the super cute mirror that my sister HAND MADE Chris and I in Manila and gave it to us as a wedding present!

Dad came home for just a minute, and caught us just when I had finished. I think he likes it, and so does Alex!

Have you ever seen two men any cuter and more adorable than this???

I think not!

It smoothes out pretty well, too!
The mohawk probably won't last, but I figured why not play?!
It's summer time, time to have some fun...(and there's nothing left to do since it's been raining for over a week straight now!)

Photo Shoot #543

Why, you may ask? I honestly don't know. But, it was another rainy day, and every time I take pictures I seem to learn a lesson. Todays lesson: Why photographers have assistants.
Set child in desired position.
Run and grab camera.
Put down camera and run to child.
Repeat.

Today Grace had most of the candid shots,

while Alex's desire for M&M's helped a little.

I snapped this when Alex thought I had turned the camera off.
This picture is very important.
I want Alex to see this when he is grown up and has kids because this picture says:
"Mom: I'm smarter than you. I understand exactly what you've been asking me to do, but I also know that 3 lousy M&M's is NOT enough to make me listen. Sorry chica!"
Well guess what, buddy! You may be smarter than me, but I totally busted you with this picture, so there! Mwah ha ha ha ha!
Sweet Grace

This is the kind of smile I was looking for, but when did it appear? Again, when he thought the camera was off, and when he thought he was in trouble. I'm giving him the, "You better not slam that computer door on my leg again..." look, which, in turn, evokes the following response:

Geesh!

A Morning Surprise!

This is what Dad found this morning after returning home from his workout. A Turtle walking across our driveway! How could we pass up on this free Life Science lesson? We brought the turtle inside and put it in the tub until the kids woke up. When Alex woke up I told him there was a surprise waiting for him in the tub...he was a little apprehensive and wouldn't go in without me, but once he saw it, he was so excited and was screaming over and over, 'A Turtle! A Turtle! A Turtle in the tub, mom!' It was so cute.

Grace loved it too. After looking at it for awhile, we let him go outside and Grace sure was sad to see him go. I think they bonded on a very deep level those few moments that they knew each other. Maybe we have a future veterinarian on our hands?

Now this is the kind of picture I was looking for yesterday. Would it be wrong to hang a three year picture of my child in our house with bed head and in pj's? The smile is so stinkin' cute...I can see how happy he is in his eyes alone. Love it. Just love it.

Photo Shoot #542

Today was a rainy day, so since we were all stuck in the house I figured, "Hey, why not give taking pictures of the kids another go?" So I did. Umm, I think now I am starting to understand why families willingly shovel out hundreds of dollars to have professional pictures taken.
This is impossible!
I did manage to get some O.K. shots, but nothing like what I'm thinking in my head.
And as far as taking pictures of Alex...again, impossible!
All I have to say about that is...I think it's time for Mommy and Alex to have a special day with just the two of us.
As for today, the following is as good as it's going to get!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to me! We had a wonderful day today! First, Alex gave me a wonderful wonderful present, then I got a Zoom lense for the camera, then I was whisked away and taken out to a delicious breakfast, and by the time we had finished, it had warmed up enough to go out to the castle! (Or, as Alex calls it, the 'Spooky Castle'.)
We tried for a Round #3 of Grace's homemade one year pictures, and did a little bit better than the first two rounds:
"Wait, I look cute in this position, right?"

Then we tried taking the first round of three year pictures with Alex. You will notice that Alex's pictures are all candids while Grace's were more posed. Hmmm. Well, it turns out that taking three year pictures may be a little bit more difficult than taking one year pictures!

Chris did get some pretty awesome pictures of me with the kids...THANKS, Daddy-o!

This is the only picture of both kids. It was the best we could do.

Thank You Family for such a wonderful day! I love you, I love you, I love you!

What Yogurt?

"Someone said I have some yogurt on my face, do you see any? I don't even remember having yogurt. I do love yogurt, though. Have you got any?"

The Pool Is Open!

We are so happy that the pool is open, and lucky that the pool is heated! The weather these last two days and temperature of the pool water has been perfect! This year we are going to make it a goal to hit the pool every day. (Although I've already discovered that this is going to definitely increase our laundry load!)

I absolutely love this pool. It is in the perfect location, only a couple of blocks from home, and has a baby pool so the kids can go back and forth between the two pools.

I have been so concerned that Grace wouldn't be walking by the time the pool opened and was going to tear up her knees and the tops of her feet from crawling...but she started walking JUST IN TIME!

After these first two days though, Alex did wear the skin off of the bottom of his toes and on his finger tips from the hard concrete :( He is very concerned about his wounds...hopefully he will have a speedy recovery.

Alex was also very adamant about NOT wearing his swim trunks (I'm guessing because the only one we had left didn't have any orange in it). So, yesterday we went to Gap Kids and let Alex pick out a rash guard and swimsuit and guess what...they both have orange in them! Shocking! Apparently, now things have to be orange and blue. So, we'll see how our next trip to the pool goes.

Also, it looks like it's time for another haircut already!

Sigh. Does it get any better than this? The only thing that would make it better would be if daddy could come with us every day! I am a very happy mom!
